Michael, Franklin and Trevor are not the main characters in Grand Theft Auto V
– Los Santos is. A sprawling recreation of the wondrous city of Los Angeles, California. A digital manifestation of a very diverse city with different landscapes, towns and personalities. Rockstar have created a masterpiece but not a typical "gaming" masterpiece. They've managed to capture the essence of our lives, satirize it and present it to us in the best way possible.
Sure, the common misconception of Grand Theft Auto V is that it's a violent, brutal game that allows you to do atrocious things in a city that is almost too similar to ours. That's frightening for some and I can see why but then again, these sort of actions are performed by the player themselves. Driving around, running over pedestrians is not something the game wants you to do but it also won't stop you from doing it either.
, has done a great job with capturing the hidden beauty in GTA V, isolating a side of Los Santos we don't typically see – even when we play it. It's also a side the media should turn their attention to instead of the 13 year old who can't stop beating hookers.
