Call of Duty: Ghosts Blitz Mode Will Be a Camping Ground for Snipers
3 months ago
I have trouble seeing the differences between the annual Call of Duty installments. I won't go for the traditional "it's the same game" argument because I'm a strong believer in the "Don't fix what's not broken" school of thought. I have a piece about that coming later this week but I digress.
Call of Duty: Ghosts is no different, especially when compared to the likes of Battlefield 4. I am liking the new gamemodes though. Blitz is one of the many new gamemodes that Infinity Ward will be using to inject some "freshness" to the franchise. I really liked the idea of Search and Rescue and Blitz sounds pretty cool too but it will be camping ground.
The idea behind Blitz is that each team has a kind of "portal" on their end of the map. The opposing team's objective is to run through that portal to score a point. When you enter their zone, you will sent back to your respawn point. Of course, this means that there will be one guy trying to score and the rest of the team will be camping back at base, sniping anyone who comes through.
Once the players fully understand the system and the map layout's, the portals will be used as bait. Until this day it happens in domination, a classic gamemode where the opposing team has to be in the zone for a few minutes to capture. In Blitz, all you have to to do is enter. There is no bar that needs to be filled or a bomb that needs to be armed. That means that players will be running around frantically and heading towards the objective more often.
How do I know that? Well, I'm a sniper and there is nothing more a sniper likes than to know where the opposing team is heading so he can sit back and pick them off. I don't particularly like Call of Duty and I hate camping but given the mechanics of the sniper in Call of Duty and the desire to get on a 20 kill-streak, this will inevitably happen. Also, expect a tone of claymores and other explosive devices around the portal.
Still it's a creative variation on Capture the Flag and it should change things up. I commend Infinity Ward in at least trying to change the game up with new gamemodes and not new gimmicks.
