Alot of things have been shown in Microsoft's E3 presentation so far, and well, all of them were games. Hey I'm not complaining though, so far we've gotten to see amazing game trailers like that of Sledgehammer's COD Advanced Warfare, and 2k's Evolve, but the one game that managed to steal the show, is without a doubt, Assassin's Creed Unity.
Head on from the start the preview exhibited what it feels like to free run along the rooftops of France, and sneak in between GINORMOUS crowds of people, and within the 6-8 minute preview we got to see, some new key features were introduced and if i could say so myself, they all add up to form what could possibly be the best Assassin's Creed title to date, and yes, every one of them topples naval warfare.
Scale, being a very common key aspect in most next gen games, plays a huge role in the new Assassin's creed. After following our lead Assassin through the rooftops and streets of France, short glimpses were given on the surroundings and extremities of the city, and from what we managed to see, the cities are huge, seemingly endless, and replete with action and energy, all wrapped up together with a beautiful Renaissance ambiance which could be best described as the last few sprinkles of seasoning on an exotic dish.
As unbelievable as it may seem, all the people you see in that header, are actually there in the game. All of them. That many people. That huge of a headcount.
Co-op (Multiplayer) Aspects
The best feature in my opinion, is the new 4 player co-op. Ubisoft has implemented a feature where you can form your own your brotherhood three other select friends. You can all roam the streets together and as it was shown, you can presumably accomplish the missions together, turning the single player into a live mulitplayer experience, who knows, maybe you can just free roam together as well, hopefully you won't get lost in France!
The trailer showed off a mission where the four assassins free roamed around France, scaling rooftops and jumping across balconies, and then walking through crowds of people together. Each assassin has his own color marker above his head to distinguish him from the hordes of AI, and once out of cover, they all ran towards the guards and took them down together. Later on they ran up the wall and into a building (Yes you can explore the insides of buildings now) and took down the guards from behind walls, up until they reached the main ballroom.
Once there, a knife(?) or bomb(?) was thrown at the window to cause some distraction, then the four assassins spread out and took their own group of guards down with their signature hidden blades, swords, and warhammers. After dealing with the goons, they cornered their main target and the game shifted to a cutscene where the player was immersed into the target's head, and experienced his own beheading in a spectacular first person cutscene.
While these are all the confirmed aspects so far, there are many more aspects that can be derived from the gameplay, bomb crafting maybe, environmental interaction a more probable factor. Overall, Assassin's Creed Unity showcased amazing graphics and quality, and in my opinion, i believe it can amount to be one of the best if not the best assassn's creed game.
