It’s been more than 2 years yet Mega Man fans still want to play the next chapter in the Mega Man Legend series. But why Legends? Unlike most Mega Man games, Legends series revolves around exploration and discovery. It was the first 3D Mega Man and with it came lots of interesting ideas like exploring dungeons, finding parts, collecting items, building weapons, and so forth. It was unique, charming, and sadly didn't get the ending it deserved. After so much time you’d think people would give up but no, we and (100,000+ fans
) still want it and can’t wait to see what happens to Mega Man Volnutt and company.
Recently Nintendo announced that they will be teaming up
with Capcom on a secret project which they will announce soon. Chances are this project is related to Monster Hunter but I’d like to imagine that it could be something more. Hopefully Mega Man Legends 3. In this article I'd like to share with all why Nintendo should make Mega Man Legends 3 and why that would be a good thing for both Mega Man and the big N.
Nintendo are the masters of 3D games
Let’s face the facts. While the 3DS has been getting a lot of praise the games on the system are mostly tied to Mario or some famous Nintendo brand. Sure, Pokemon X/Y is coming out soon, but Nintendo needs to show more than that. It needs to give players a game and a character that is familiar but new. Someone we all love and haven’t seen for a while. In short: Mega Man.
The mechanics in Legends is something Nintendo can relate to (especially with it borrowing so much from Zelda). It only makes sense to take it and improve it.
Mega Man fits under the Nintendo family
Mega Man Legends 3 deserves a second chance. Even till now the Facebook group have been constantly working hard by lunching a rocket and even attending the latest PAX event to meet the man who created Mega Man, Keiji Inafune (who sadly left Capcom months before MML3 was cancelled).
It's fair to assume by now that Capcom doesn't know what to do with the Mega Man brand anymore. Maybe without Keiji they feel lost. That’s why Mega Man needs help from an external force, he needs Nintendo and Nintendo needs him. Heck, even if they were to bring it back as a new type of 3D game I would still give it a shot.
I’m hopeful that things will work out eventually and that Legends fans finally get the results they fought so hard for. Oh, if you though that it would be impossible for a company to give one of their most famous brands to a third party then you probably haven’t played The Minish Cap: a Zelda game made by Capcom.
