For our first ever
real-life event, At7addak.com wanted to go BIG. So we hosted a massive
video-game tournament on September 3, at the Beirut Warehouse & Loft.
The tournament revolved
around 500 gamers, playing Black Ops on 50 Playstation3’s, for over an 8-hour
period. The first place winner received a massive check of $10’000. The second
place winner received $1’000 and third place winner $500. No event in the
region had ever given out so much prize money.

To enter the event, gamers had to register for a free account on At7addak.com,
and then subscribe to the tournament. We were flooded with registrations, and
the roster filled up quickly.

On September 3 the event started early, with gamers arriving as early as 9am to
be the first in. And along with their friends and family, we had close to 2’000
people at the doors.

Once checked in, gamers received their Name Tags and wrist bands, confirming them
as contestants.

When the doors finally opened at 1pm, all hell broke loose. The mob outside blitzed
through the massive doors, never worried by the loud shouting coming from the
At7addak.com staff.

As everyone stormed in, they were met by a “huge” surprise…two actually: Simon “Ghost”
Riley and “Soap” McTavish. Exact real-life replicas, heroes of the Call of Duty
series. Huddled around them was a dozen of drop-dead-gorgeous At7addak.com
military models, which literally stole the show.

This gave everyone plenty of time for a photo-opportunity, and a chance to see the
cast up-close and personal.

At approximately 1pm,
the gaming tournament started. Gamers now had a chance to approach the BIGGEST
GAMING SETUP ever made in the Middle East:
- 50 Playstation 3’s and 50 LCD screens for the competitors
- 10 Large-screen LCD TV’s for the spectators to watch the action

There were 50 PS3's in all, on 5 different gaming tables, meaning each table had 10 PS3's on it.

The groups of 50 players were chosen randomly, and their names were televised automatically
on the big-screen TV’s. So each gamer knew which station to head to. Gameplay
format was “10 vs. 10 Free For All” in Single Elimination, in 10 Minute matches.
At the end of the 10 minutes, the top scoring gamers moved onto the next round.

After all the blood,
sweat and tears of nearly 8 hours of cut-throat competitive gaming, the winners
were crowned. He were the final results of the tournament:

- 3rd place went to
Dominic “Dom” Cheftari who won $500
- 2nd place went to Rakan
“Rakan” Hassan who won a whopping $1’000
- 1st place went to Rayan
“Rayan” Abou Elias who won THE GRAND PRIZE of $10’000

All in all, around 3’000
people attended the event, which was covered by international press including
top gaming forums and bloggers from the region.
