One of the highest selling franchise in the world, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 is still rising strong, (even with its rival Battlefield 3 growing popular) with an estimated one billion dollars peak in sales figures back in December, and their community portal COD Elite.

Wired’s Jason Schreir interviewed Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg yesterday, giving us a glimpse of what’s awaiting us for Modern Warfare 3’s upcoming DLC packages during the upcoming year.

Hirshberg said that “One of the things that was most appealing when we were researching these ideas with consumers is the idea of breaking up the DLC so that it comes more often and more regularly […] We want to provide DLC to people more often and also experiment with more of a variety in the forms of playable content.”

Activision are saying that they're changing strategies, in addition to new multiplayer maps, they are thinking about new mission and spec-ops modes too. All those new DLC will be free to the premium subscription members of Elite.
