Tropical Paradise and a Mad Scientist – What more could we ask for?

The new Far Cry 3 trailer is pretty impressive, to say the least. It starts with a disturbed sounding man administering some unsafe looking drugs to your bleeding arm and slyly saying ‘You’ll like where this takes you'. I do like where it’ll take me Ubisoft, since it’s a lush island paradise that’s rendered with beautiful graphical detail.

In this pristine paradise, you man heavy machine guns, slam sniper fire into enemies and stab one guy in the neck and right after, throw the knife into his buddy. Murderous AND environmentally conscious. The trailer also features some pretty slick cinematic action, with the player hijacking a helicopter and trying to escape underwater suffocation.

If this trailer is any indication, we’re looking at a really hardcore single player shooter (remember those?) in an amazing environment. Obviously the grim prediction is that all this cinematic dazzle is a cover for unimpressive gameplay, but with Ubisoft at the helm I’m willing to keep my hopes up.
