Battlefield 3 Gun Master

Get tips and tricks from our team on how to beat the hard challenge.

Inspired by the Gun Game mod for Counter-Strike: Source, Gun Master is the newly introduced mode from Battlefield 3’s Close Quarters expansion pack, and one of the most competitive gametypes in EA’s shooter. For the occasion we decided to give you some tips to help you beat this gruesomely hard challenge.

The basis of Gun Master mode is simple: You start with the simple MP443 handgun and work your way through a better weapon after two kills. Once you reach the final 17th level, and score two kills with the knife you are the match winner.

Pretty easy, right? Well, not so much if you’re a specialized Battlefield 3 player. Because the weapons are very different at each level, if you’re a veteran sniper, used to counting headshots with your loyal L96 Sniper Riffle, things could be tricky if you never held a shotgun or any other high recoil weapon.

So what do you need to know to survive this kill-fest? Well, to start with, you need to learn two important pieces of information: You are part of a team, and you need to speed it up to get a machine gun. You see, the first three weapons levels are handguns, and you need to get rid of these as early as possible or else you’re screwed for the entire game.

The only way to do that is to rush with a bunch of your teammates and try to steal easy kills from afar as they suppress the enemy.
As soon as you get to Level 4, the PP19 with Suppressor, you can easily go through the leaderboard.

Now as you continue your way through the higher levels, you will pass by some of the easiest and most effective weapons of the game, such as the AUG A3, the SCAR-L and our previously featured L86A2.

Things will get really hard in the end, as you reach level 16, as you need to get two kills with the M320 LVG, which fire a grenade that detonates after 3 seconds. It might seem easy, but it’s not. You should aim for tossing your grenade into an intense conflict zone on the map.

Finally, your last task is to kill two enemies only armed with a knife. So run around the map in circle until you find your prey. Also bear in mind that if your rival performs a knife takedown on you, you will lose one weapon level, as I learned the hard way.

That is all soldiers! Make sure to reach in the top five of gun master to get one step closer of unlocking the “Hold the Trigger” assignment, awarding you with the MP5K.
