Last night, like a stealthy ninja, Dice unleashed the
Matches feature for Battlefield 3, skipping even a launch date announcement. So
starting today, you can start setting up competitive matches between your
friends, or even against clans.

So what’s in there? Well, Matches can be customized
abundantly, giving you a variety of options to create your very own
mini-tournaments. You start off by naming the match, setting the start time for
the game, the team size (from 1v1 to 12v12) and which two maps you want to play
in.

After prepping these step comes the game settings which some
are really interesting such as Friendly fire or limiting spawn to a squad
leader. The full list is as it goes:
Friendly fire
Kill cam
HUD
Regenerate health
3d spotting
Name tag
Mini map spotting
Vehicle spawn allowed
3p vehicle cam
Mini map
Only squad leader spawn
You can also restrict specific unlocks to make it more
old-school, such as removing the M320 or Frag Rounds.
After all is set, the tricky part is that you don’t get any
kind of notifications that you were invited to a match. You will have to rely
on chatting with your friends on Battlelog, which can be quite tricky when
you’re trying to set a 12v12 match as everyone needs to accept and join.

Another thing Dice should’ve done is adding the possibility
to create matches inside the game. Because it’s relying on you to be present on
Battlelog’s website, it can be quite a hassle. All you can do on your console is check the set up matches and join.

So here you have it guys. We’ll be having soon some friendly
matches where you can team up against the best of At7addak.com on both our
Playstation 3 server, and our brand new Xbox 360 server. All you have to do is
search for server name At7addak.com on your console and you’re good to go. We’ll
see you on the battlefield, and in the At7addak.com Battlefield 3 Global Rush Online Tournament soldiers.
