Battlefield 3: Armored Kill

The most extensive preview of the upcoming map pack coming next September.

With the upcoming start of the fall season, and the numerous game releases, Battlefield fans are waiting one thing. No, it’s not Medal of Honor: Warfighter, and it’s not the exclusive Beta access to Battlefield 4, it’s all about one thing: Armored Kill.

If the latest Battlefield 3 DLC, Close Quarter, was all about being up close and personal, Armored Kill, on the other hand, is all about bleeding jet fuel, clashing metal, and playing in the largest map of the Battlefield history. Yes , Battlefield 3’s Armored Kill brings back what we love the most about the Battlefield franchise, four all out open maps to wage a virtual war, with soldiers, tanks, helicopters and jets… Briefly, in one simple tense: a badass battlefield!

Armored Kill will expand the machine’s roster to five new vehicles, with tank destroyers, gunship, ATVs, and mobile artillery. The first of them is the M1128 Mobile Gun System, a US made tank destroyer, a 105mm M68 powered cannon mounted on a LAV-25, capable of carrying infantry.

The second known tank destroyer is the Russian made 2S25 Sprut, powered by a 125mm smoothbore gun, it is a perfect mix of fast movement and powerful attack. It also has been used for the first time in Battlefield 2: Modern Combat.

The gunship is la crème de la crème of the Armored Kill. Taking over a specific base in the map will grant access to the Lockheed AC-130 Gunship, a heavily armed Ground Attack Aircraft variant of the C-130 transport plane. Although you won’t be able to control its flight pattern, you will indeed take position in four of its gunner position, two for shooting 125mm cannons at the ground and two 360-degree anti-aircraft turrets to defend yourself from attacking jets.

The AC-130 Gunship will also serve in multiple strategic ways to spot enemies for your teammates on the ground, as well as playing on the role of a parachute spawn point for allied infantry. Death from above!

Finally the DLC will also introduce another type of vehicle, used previously in Battlefield Vietnam: mobile artillery. The first one of them is the BM-21, Russian made multiple rocket launcher system. It has been spotted in both the Thunder Run mission in single player mode, and in the Exfiltration coop mission of Battlefield 3. The BM-21 can fire easily powerful 122mm rockets at a speed of 120 rockets per minutes.

The second mobile artillery vehicle is the M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System, a light US made multiple rocket launcher mounted on a truck. It is the American counterpart of the Russian BM-21.

All these vehicles will be perfect for the all-new Tank Superiority game mode, with over twenty unlock for the new machines, and five for the base ones.
