WCG 2012: Goodbye League of Legends

Riot Games’ prized title gets ditched for Dota 2.

The rumors were  fueled  for quite some time, and now the news has been confirmed on WCG 2012’s official website: Dota 2 will replace League of Legends as the official MOBA title of the competition.

Dota 2 will be in the same section with fellow RTS games StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty and Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne. Free-to-play Cross Fire will be the first person shooter of choice, and FIFA 12 will be the sports representative of the tournament WCG.

Could the competition also mark the international launch date of Dota 2? And is League of Legends   losing its hype?
