The August Release Rundown

Might be a scarce month, but at least the games are fabulous.

Happy August fellow gamers! It might be the last month of Summer, meaning that school, university and college will start soon, but big titles are coming in August, which should help you drift off for a while.

Starting with today, is a beautiful Xbox Live Arcade exclusive title,
Deadlight  . The game is what the Tequila Works call, a "cinematic puzzle platformer”; presented this way, that reminds me of the excellent Chair Entertainment title, Shadow Complex.

Later on next week is Atlus’ newest title
Persona 4 Arena . Known for their witty creativity, dark humor and mind-blowing RPG, Persona 4 Arena has nothing to do with the series: it’s a fighting game. Nevertheless, from what I got to see at E3 this year, this fighting game brings back all of what is great about 2D brawl: fast action, simple combos, and crazy visual effects.

On august 14th, you got yourself two massive titles coming:
Darksiders II and Sleeping Dogs . The sequel of the Zelda-like adventure game, Darksiders II will feature the leader of the four horsemen, Death, in a bigger, stronger and expanded game.

Sleeping Dogs on the other hand is a reboot of the True Crime franchise. Grabbed by Square Enix earlier this year, Sleeping Dogs puts you in the shoes of a undercover Honk Kong cop, Wei Shen, as he infiltrate the Triads. This open-world adventure game will be your perfect fix as we are all waiting for GTA V.

August 21st is a good day for shooters, as
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive drops on consoles and Steam, bringing back the memorable first person shooter. There’s not much to explain here, I’m sure everyone knows about it.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive will be joined by another type of game, one that was redefined by High Moon Studios in the past two years, with
Transformers: Fall of Cybertron . More Autobots than you can count, and an upgraded multiplayer action mode should keep the Transformer fans for a long time.

Finally, in the last week of August, PC players will get much needed appreciation with the long awaited PC port of
Dark Souls on August 24th and sequel to ArenaNet’s monster MMO, Guild Wars 2 on August 28th.
