For many months, and especially after the closure of
Ukranian studio GSC earlier this year, the fate of STALKER 2 was not looking
good. If you remember, the last sequel, Stalker: Shadows of Chernobyl was
critically acclaimed for its style and depth, making it one of the most popular
underground shooters in early 2000.

But because of numerous graphical bugs, things weren’t
looking so good for the franchise, and after the closure of the Stalker’s
studio, no one expected a new title or sequel.

But according to a source close to the studio’s creator and director, Sergei
Grigorovich, it looks like the franchise has been picked up by Bethesda. No
extra information has been given out, but it seems like Stalker 2 will run on
the same engine as Obsidian’s famed franchise Fallout.

This is news that should be very promising, and hopefully
will be confirmed soon, and that a console version of Stalker 2 could one day
exist.
