Although not a major League of Legends tournament, the Major
League Gaming Summer Arena has the merit of doing bringing some of the best
matches in competitive MOBA games. With only participating and invitational teams, it is
difficult to gather la crème de la crème of League of Legends professionals,
but the MLG still offers two of the best North American teams and the best
Korean team known to date.

BLACK qualified by chance by taking advantage of the
disinterest of top teams. Unfortunately for them, the only European in
the tournament had to go with two replacements in their team because of visa
problems, switching Napraem and Diqozy for Svenskeren in the jungle and Rekkles
as AD carry.

Unbeaten in LAN for ages, Team SoloMid weren’t in their
greatest shape lately and was looking forward to attending their first
confrontation with a Korean team and of course defending their crown won at the
previous League Legends tournament at the MLG Anaheim Spring Arena. The did end
up finishing second place in the tournament.
Each team in turn met and competed for three rounds each
time, as a best of three format. Azubu Blaze destroyed the competition
throughout the first parts of the tournament, winning every single match
against Team SoloMid, Curse and BLACK.

The iconic Curse team had a nice run for its money, going
very aggressive, knocking tower bot in an average of 5 minutes, by using the
Korean team’s own tactic with great success. They sadly couldn’t keep up, and
finished third in the tournament.

So congratulation once again to team Azubu Blaze, taking
home their first ever Major League Championship, and going back to Korea with
the first prize of $10,000. Make sure to check the winner of the Starcraft II event and stay tuned
