The success of the ArmA II mod Dayz definitely continues to grow. Launched four months ago, Dayz totaled fewer than one million players according to the development team, which also states that over 2.1 billion zombies were killed while other players killed nearly 4 million people. So many death huh?

The developers of Dayz, Bohemia Interactive Studio is also heading to Gamescom next week, where terminals dedicated to Dayz will be available to the exhibition visitors.

Funny enough, a recent press release points that the game will now become a stand-alone title, by the end of the year. Creator of the mod, Dean Hall is now officially project lead developer, will design this version of course with independent Bohemia Interactive Studio to ensure smooth operations.

"I realize people will have many, many questions - but we wanted to let everyone know the announcement now" stated Hall, "Over the coming weeks, these questions will be answered. The game will have it's own site, www.dayzgame.com and the mod will continue at it's present link." Sounds like a great plan right? The mod might get a lot success as they are following the same strategy of another indie hit: Minecraft.
