ESL Season 7: Group A and B Starcraft II Open Brackets

The Starcraft II competition is starting with a blast, with some of the biggest players in the world.

The ESL Intel Extreme Master Season 7 Starcraft II Open Brackets at Gamescom 2012 started off with a blast, with some of the biggest players in the world battling their ways through the open brackets.

The first day started with group A and B, playing a series of Best of Three, with names such as Jung Jong “MVP” Hyun, the iconic Terran, holding four GSL Championship titles under his belt and is currently considered as the best Korean Terran player in the world. Playing for team Incredible Miracle, he finished as first in group B with a 4-1 match wins, winning 9 games and losing a mere three, making him one terrifying Terran.

Zerg player Kim Dong “Violet” Hwan was also in the same group as his Korean counterpart. A recent addition to the infamous Azubu team, Violet brought the experience of over a dozen international events win, including MLG Spring Arena 2 this year. He finished as second place of Group B, with a 4-1 match win, winning 8 out of 13 games.

Terran player Mihaylo “Kas” Hayda, who finished as third place in last year’s IEM season 6 championship, first place in Copenhagen Games Spring 2012 as well as the 2011 TwitchTV European Invitational, grabbed third place with 3-2 match wins, winning 8 games out of 13. This Ukranian player is certainty a player to watch out for.

Korea’s Lim Jae “NesTea” Duk joined his Incredible Miracle teammate MVP in the group with the fourth place. This Zerg player and winner of three GSL titles ended the open brackets with a 3-2 match wins, winning 6 out of 11 games played.

Belgian Protoss player Jérémy “Feast” Vansnick is a member of Millenium, he came in 4
th place in last year’s IEM Season VI - World Championship, currently in 5th place with 1 – 4 match wins, winning 5 games out of 14 games played.

Moving on to Group A’s Open Brackets, we start with Artur “Nerchio” Bloch, a Polish Zerg player, known for grabbing the crown of 2012 HomeStory Cup 5 and the World Championship Series: Poland Nationals, finished with a 3-2 match wins, winning 8 games out of 13.

Coming in Second place in Group A is Park Ji “ForGG” Soo, a Terran Korean player who left oGs as they disbanded and is now playing for Millenium. Winning first place in the ASUS ROG Summer 2012 Championship, this player is in second place of the Intel Extreme Master open bracket of the group A with a 3-2 match win, winning 7 games out of 12.

Third place goes to Rickard “SortOf” Bergman, another Nordic Zerg player, winner of the NärCon 2012, currently at 3-2 match wins with 7 games won out of 14 games in total.

Korean Protoss Woo Min “inori” Gyu , part of Team SCV Life is known for winning the Invitational North American AGL back in April can now add fourth place in this stats, after winning 2-3 matches, with a total of 6 games won out of 13 games.

Last but not least is the fifth place winner, Lee Ho “PuMa” Joon. 
 Last year’s winner of the Intel Extreme Master Series in Cologne is not doing really well this season, but this well-known Terran player from team Evil Geniuses shouldn’t be underestimated. With five grand titles in 2011, he finished by winning two matches out of 5, with 5 games won out of 12 in total.
