This weekend, Taiwan’s Taipei Assassins and Korea’s Azubu Frost duked it out in front of a sold-out crowd of 10,000 and over 900,000 online viewers for the League of Legends World Championship.

Taipei Assassins were able to take home the title and $1,000,000 in prize money in only four games. Azubu Frost took game 1, but with a strong reconciliation and teamwork, Taipei Assassins were able to win the next three games in a row. eSports pays well, very well.

After a controversial investigation this week following allegations of cheating, Team Azubu Frost was fined $30,000. Riot Games ruled that a team member violated the rules by peeking at the opponent’s mini-map, which in turn, made him and his teammates change strategy based on that.
