A whole new system for Ranked play.

League of Legends is the pinnacle of eSports. With maybe the biggest playerbase, tournaments and cash prizes ever in eSports. Now, Season 3 is upon us and Riot Games felt some changes are due.

Adopting a similar league system like Starcraft 2 and other titles, winning ranked games will earn you league points. These league points will initially place you in a league, then they will determine your ranking in that league, moving up or down depending on your performance.

So, competing in ranked matches will place you in one of the 6 leagues and winning ranked matches will rank you higher in that ladder. Each league has 5 divisions which you will gradually go through until eventually moving up to a higher league. This applies to solo, duo, 3v3 and 5v5 games. Best of all, if you reach the Challenger tier with a team of 5, you'll earn yourself the chance to go pro.
