Dead Space 4 has been cancelled. As odd as it may sound, coming only a few days after Dead Space 3. The fourth installment, which has been in pre-production, has been nipped in the bud and cancelled. Dead Space 3 failed to reach a certain sales target, this was taken as an indication that the series 4th installment might not do so well. In fact, Dead Space 3 was almost cancelled mid-production. We all know how important sales targets are, especially for a corporation like EA.

EA also made sure to notify Visceral Games that they are expecting a wider audience for Dead Space 3 which can be achieved by focusing "more on the action than horror." This seems to be the case for a lot of games like Resident Evil 6 and more. Evidently, it ends up destroying the series and any possible sequels. Go figure.

Visceral Games was told last month by EA that Dead Space 4 is cancelled and that the studio will be going through some restructuring. Ouch.
